Oral sex

Question

Hi,

Is oral sex allowed in Islam, have heard previously that it is, but no swallowing of anything as that is haraam. There seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on this.

Thanks.

Answer

The ruling of oral sex in the Hanafi school is that if impurities enter the mouth then oral sex will not be permissible as one is engaging with impure substances. It is also likely that if impurities enter the mouth, some fluids will remain within the mouth and could subsequently be swallowed. This would not be permissible.

As for orally engaging with the private parts without taking fluids into the mouth it is mentioned in the Fatawa Hindiyyah that some scholars have also considered this to be disliked (makruh) whilst others have considered it to be permissible.

It would be best practice to abstain. However, if someone did engage in oral sex in a manner where they do not come into contact with impure fluids then there is no explicit prohibition for this.
