Using Logic to Prove Truth of Islam

Nov 27, 2021 | Aqidah (Belief)

Question

Assalamu alaykum

Thing is as I have studied comparative religion for much of life, I have noticed that muslim preachers say islam means complete submission to Allah and so we have to accept his commands without questioning even though we may not understand the logic behind certain rulings or theological aspects. However when it comes to other religions our scholars try to reason with them, for instance Christians are made to understand that concept of trinity defies logic hence their religion is false and only islam is true.

Based on this subject I have some questions for you

1) If logic is not the way to determine true religion then how can we as muslims be sure that islam alone passes the falsification test of true religion ?
2) Earlier I use to believe that islam must be true because Quran contains many scientific and historical facts, which was good way to determine islam is true. Main proponent of this narrative was Zakir Naik, but after my own research on his arguments I do not find his narrative convincing anymore, in fact even great number of muslim scholars like Hamza Tzortisiz, Suboor Ahmed, M.Hijab, Yasir Qadhi, etc have also refuted his arguments and declared his narrative untrue. If Islam does not contain scientific miracles, can there be any other evidence that gives muslims confidence that islam is certainly true?

1. There are different ways in which Islam can be proven to be the truth. Some of these use logic whilst others do not. The Qur’an itself presents a variety of arguments as well, such as the miraculous nature of the Qur’an. This is an open challenge for people to try and compose text to the standard of the Qur’an. Allah, the Almighty, states that people will never be able to compose anything like the Qur’an. The miraculous nature of the Qur’an as well as its immaculate preservation are two factors that other religions can not compare with. Other arguments have also been advanced to prove the existence of Allah. More details can be found on the link provided above.

2. Allah the Almighty does not claim the Qur’an to contain scientific miracles. Rather, this is more a recent argument that has been presented by some Muslim debaters. The main argument advanced for the truthfulness of the Qur’an is in its miraculous nature. Other arguments for the truthfulness of Islam are found within the miracles of the Prophets, religious experience etc. all of which are discussed in detail in our course.
