Assalamu Alaikum
My dad told me to contact you in regards to a skin care product i have been using as he believes it isn’t allowed however i have not seen anything saying it wasn’t and just though it would be safer to contact you.
it is called snail mucin
it is a skin care product which is meant to be very good for the skin
i have been using it for a few months now

Answer

Snails fall under those type of land animals which do not have flowing blood.  Scientifically, their blood is similar to that of spiders – blue rather than red – due to the absence of haemoglobin and the presence of haemocyanin[1]. Therefore, they are not considered impure and their mucus may be used on the surface of one’s skin.

«الأصل» لمحمد بن الحسن (1/ 70 ت الأفغاني):

«قلت من أين اختلف دم البق والحلم قال ليس للبق ‌دم ‌سائل والحلم له ‌دم ‌سائل قلت وكذلك كل شيء ليس له ‌دم ‌سائل يقع في الإناء فلا بأس بالوضوء منه قال نعم إذا كان مثل الخنفساء أو العقرب والجراد أو النمل والزنبور والذباب والقراد فإنه إذا وقع شيء من هذا في الماء لم يفسد وكذلك دمها إذا أصاب الثوب لم يجب عليه غسله»

«النتف في الفتاوى للسغدي» (1/ 37):

«وَعند الْفُقَهَاء الْهَوَام على وَجْهَيْن

مَا لَهُ دم سَائل مثل الْفَأْرَة والحية والوزغة والقنفذ فان مَا يخرج مِنْهَا وسؤرها مَكْرُوه وان وَقع فِي المَاء يَجعله مَكْرُوها وبولها نجس وَمَا لَيْسَ لَهُ نفس سَائِلَة فان مَا يخرج مِنْهَا طَاهِر»
