Question

Salam can I name baby girl Zirwa?

Answer

The word dhirwa (الذِّرْوَةُ with a dhal) means the summit or peak of something. In a report, the companion Abu Darda RA says: “The peak of faith (dhirwat al-iman) is patience with Divine judgement, satisfaction with Divine decree, sincerity in reliance, and surrender to the Lord”. Zirwa with a zaa is unlikely to be an Arabic word and, thus, cannot be found in Arabic dictionaries.

Dhirwa has a good meaning, so you may name your child this. However, the good meaning is in the name dhirwa, not zirwa. Therefore, remain committed to pronouncing the name properly.
