Question
Are Haribo jelly sweets from Turkey that say Helal on them, authentically halal, can we eat them?
Answer
You would need to contact the manufacturers to be sure. If they state that animal-based ingredients are sourced only from animals that are lawful to consume and that the slaughter was carried out correctly, i.e., by a Muslim slaughterer who takes the name of Allah the Almighty and ensures the animal did not die before slaughter, then it would be lawful to consume. If there is doubt about any of these stages, it is best to avoid the product and stick to those with reliable halal certification, such as those approved by the Halal Monitoring Committee (HMC).
