Editing Music Videos But Giving To Client Without Audio (Muted).

Question

Assalamualaikum, I want some assistance. I edit videos and recently I got a video to edit by a client and the video is actually a song video in which 3 persons are singing. There are only three things used in the audio. one is vocals of singers, sometimes guitar in low volume and sometimes harmonica. Now I want to know that all I have to do is to remove some background objects from the video. I’m not gonna edit the audio. I’m not gonna add music or something. All I have to do is remove objects. Is it permissable in Islam. Also I’m gonna send only the edited video without audio (I’m gonna send him finalized video with no audio, not even the one Originally the video has). Also I read some Hadiths which indicates that musical instruments are not prohibited, and some Hadiths also indicate that musical instruments are Haram. But the question I’m asking is that I’m just editing the video and I’m gonna give him muted video. Is it still not permissable or is it as I’m just removing objects from a muted video?
Jazakallah

Answer

The task of removing objects from a video in and of itself is permissible. It seems, however, based on the information provided in the question, that the video you are editing is a music video, and even though the version you are sending back will not have any audio, it will ultimately be used as a music video. Hence, your actions will be considered as aiding and supporting the creation and development of a music video. For this reason, it would not be permissible for you to work on this particular project.
