Is my earnings haram if I sold jewelry to a woman who doesn’t most likely seem to wear hijab? I work as a agent for the seller and I don’t own any products. I just post pictures of any product I like to sell and when I get customer. I send the customer information to the sellers and they deliver the product to the customer and I get commission and I work for many online sellers and I post their products in my Instagram business account. Some of the sellers want delivery charge from the customer to confirm the order to make sure so that they don’t cancel the order later and so that we don’t have to pay the delivery charge instead of them since customers pay for the products and delivery charge.

1.Is everything halal in this type work?

Answer

If you are not selling the items yourself, rather you are just acting as an agent for the seller and receive commission on sales then this type of transaction will be permissible. If the woman purchasing the jewellery does not wear hijab then that is her own action and the sin will be on her. You will not be considered to have assisted them in sinning by selling jewellery to them.

When selling jewellery for cash, possession must take place at least on one side at the time of the transaction. Hence, if the jewellery is going to posted out then the payment must be received in its entirety at the time of contract.

Pre-order is when an order is placed for an item which has not yet been released. In such a case, if at the time of taking 50% payment, a contract is taking place, then this would not be permissible as the payment must be received in full. This is to ensure that complete possession on one side takes place. If however, at the time of taking the 50% advance, a contract is not formed, rather, it is held as a type of deposit, and the contract will take place later, then this will be permissible. One must ensure that at the time of the contract the full payment is received.

Taking an advance on the delivery charge is permissible if that is a charge for an independent service. If however, it is part of the purchase price for the item then there must be complete possession on at least one side hence full payment must be taken.
