Jazakum Allah Khair
Answer
If a part of the body is covered with a splint, bandage or brace then instead of removing the covering one can wipe over it. Hence, when performing ablution (wudu) or a ritual bath (ghusl), if there are parts of the body which can be washed without causing harm to the wound then those parts should be washed. The remaining parts of the body and the covering should then be wiped over with wet hands. You are not required to remove the covering if doing so will cause pain and delay the recovery of the injury.
